How Do I Know
If My Pool
Is Leaking?
7 Signs to Look For
Don't Guess. Get Answers.
Small leaks can lead to big problems if left unchecked. Here are the warning signs that your pool might have a leak.
How Do I Know If I Have a Pool Leak?
If your pool is losing water faster than normal, you may have a pool leak. In the Arizona heat some evaporation is expected, but losing more than half an inch of water per day is a clear warning sign. Cracked plaster, wet or soggy spots in the yard, rising water bills, and pumps losing prime are all common symptoms of a leaking pool. Catching these signs early protects your deck, equipment, and landscaping from costly damage.

7 Signs Your Pool May Have a Leak
1. CONSTANTLY ADDING WATER
Needing to refill your pool more than usual.
2. WATER LEVEL DROPS FAST
Losing more than 1/2 inch of water per day.
3. WET OR SOGGY AREAS
Soft or wet spots around your pool or deck.
4. CRACKS IN POOL OR DECK
Cracks can allow water to escape underground.
5. HIGHER WATER BILL
Leaky pools can cause your water bill to spike.
6. EQUIPMENT PROBLEMS
Pumps losing prime or running longer than normal.
7. AIR BUBBLES IN RETURNS
Air bubbles coming from the return jets.
Evaporation
Normal in Arizona Heat.
Pools lose 1/4" to 1/2" of water per day due to evaporation.
Actual Leak
More Than Normal Loss.
If loss is more than 1/2" per day, you may have a leak that needs attention.
Not sure? Try the bucket test below or let our pros find it for you.

Try the Bucket Test
A Simple Test You Can Do
This easy test helps you determine if your pool is losing more water than normal.
Fill a 5-gallon bucket with pool water and place it on a step, submerging it so the water level inside is the same as the pool.
Mark both the bucket water level and the pool water level.
After 24 hours, compare the levels.
If the pool water level is lower than the bucket water level, you may have a leak.
